KCSO finds AK-47, drugs inside Arvin home

On February 5, 2016 at approximately 6:45 a.m., deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Gang Unit executed a search warrant at 432 Franklin St. in the city of Arvin. The residence is located adjacent to Sierra Vista Elementary School and Haven Drive Middle School.

Once inside the residence, deputies contacted 30 year old Jose Adalberto Alvarez, 26 year old Angela Lopez and their two small children. During a search of the residence, deputies located a an AK-47 assault rifle with two 30 round magazines, ammunition, over a pound of marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Alvarez was arrested on numerous charges which included, possession of an assault weapon, possession of marijuana for the purpose of sale, possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine, child endangerment, and participation in a criminal street gang.

Alvarez was booked into the Kern County Central Receiving Facility where he is currently being held on $120,000.00 bail.
