A neighborhood is on edge and fed up after three men were caught on camera trying to break into several cars near the Stockdale Country Club in southwest Bakersfield.

Mike Thomas says he woke up early Wednesday morning after hearing a noise in his front yard. He walked outside and found a man peeking into his car windows. He yelled at them and the man and his two accomplices left the area.

Fortunately his neighbor, Jennifer Haines, was able to catch them on surveillance camera. She was shocked to see they had also tried to get into her family's cars.

The thieves weren't able to take anything from Thomas or Haines, but a neighbor's iPad, package and Halloween decoration were taken.

Neighbors say the thieves are nothing new. A few months back, one neighbor had their front door kicked in and Thomas' four tires were stolen from his truck.

The homeowners set up a neighborhood watch and are hoping this will deter the criminals from coming back.

The residents were told that the Bakersfield Police Department would be increasing patrols in the area but so far no word on the suspects responsible.
