If you've got a big tax refund burning a hole in your pocket, why not consider splurging on something sleek and sporty? While the editors of Kelley Blue Book stop short of making that recommendation, they know that some big bonus checks are just meant to be spent. So with that in mind they recently offered up their list of Top 10 Tax Refund Cars. The list, which was not ranked but appears in alphabetical order, includes the 2010 models of the Audi S5 Cabrio, Chevrolet Camaro SS, Ford Shelby GT500, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Lexus IS Convertible and Nissan 370Z Roadster.
The list also includes four 2009 models: the BMW Z4, Infiniti G37 Convertible, MINI Cooper Convertible and Porsche Cayman."Many people have left the new-car market in the last six months, but our research shows that they seem to be looking for a little jolt of financial help to get back into the new-car showrooms," said Rick Wainschel, senior vice president of marketing and analytics for Kelley Blue Book.Kelley Blue Book's latest market research showed that 73 percent of consumers say they would consider buying a new car with help from items like their 2008 tax refund, a stimulus check or new-car-related 2009 tax deductions."With tax refunds starting to come in, and the parts of the stimulus package that encourage 2009 new-car purchases with sales and excise tax deductions further resonating in the minds of new-car shoppers, consumers may see themselves in more of a position to jump back into the marketplace," Wainschel said.
