19-Year-Old Reports Self As Drunken Driver

Teen Had Stopped On Side Of Road, Trooper Says

A 19-year-old woman was arrested after she called 911 to report herself as "very drunk" while stopped on the shoulder of a road, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Dan McDonald.

KIRO-TV in Seattle reported that Alysha McInnis was stopped on the side of a road when she called 911 just after 5 a.m. Monday.

McInnis told the dispatcher that she was underage and very drunk. She said she was given alcohol at a party without her knowledge, and her friends told her that she could call 911 to have the police come pick her up and take her to the hospital to detox, McDonald said.

She told the dispatcher that she pulled to the shoulder because she was intoxicated and began to lose her vision.

When a trooper arrived at the scene, McInnis had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and appeared extremely intoxicated, McDonald said.

A 20-ounce alcohol energy drink in the cup holder contained 12 percent alcohol, police said. McInnis told the trooper that she was drinking the alcohol drink while driving and that she drank four of the same drinks at the party she was driving home from.

McInnis was arrested and taken to a medical center where she was released for detox treatment.
