Bakersfield, Calif. -- While 900 downtown residents were left in the dark this morning, Bakersfield High summer school students didn't let that ruin their day.

Hundreds of students were evacuated at 10 a.m., 2 hours early from the usual noon summer school dismissal time.

As for the root of the black-out, PG&E officals do not believe it was the heat. They said it’s still an undetermined cause.

PG&E credits the fast response of their crews as to why the blackout only lasted 2 hours.

PG&E said they will continue to investigate why hundreds of central Bakersfield residents were left in the dark.
