Power Outage In Downtown Bakersfield Leaves 100s In Dark

While 900 downtown residents were left in the dark this morning, Bakersfield High summer school students didn't let that ruin their day.

Hundreds of students were evacuated at 10 a.m., 2 hours early from the usual noon summer school dismissal time.

As for the root of the black-out, PG&E officals do not believe it was the heat. They said it’s still an undetermined cause.

PG&E credits the fast response of their crews as to why the blackout only lasted 2 hours.

PG&E said they will continue to investigate why hundreds of central Bakersfield residents were left in the dark.
