4th Of July Family Reunion Ends With One Dead

Police Still Looking For Suspects

A family reunion was rocked by gunfire over the weekend leaving a father dead and his wife and three others wounded.

On Sunday around 12:34 a.m., the Bakersfield Police Department received a call of a possible assault with a firearm near the intersection of First and T Streets.

Police said three black teens were walking past the home when one of the teens suddenly pulled out a handgun and began to fire into the crowd.

Anthony Johnson, 37, of Jacksonville Texas, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, the BPD reported.

Chrystin Johnson, 35, of Jacksonville Texas and the wife of Anthony, sustained a moderate injury from a gunshot wound to her leg.

Cynthia Mackey, 46, of Bakersfield, sustained a minor gunshot wound to her hand.

Lavar Johnson, 32, of Madera, sustained a serious gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Larry Dellouette, 62, of Los Angeles, sustained a minor gunshot wound to his foot.

A sobbing a Jamonia Johnson the 9 year-old daughter of the late Anthony Johnson met with ABC 23 Sunday night.

"Whoever did this, please turn yourself in." It was a cry for justice after just losing her father.

The Wendell Davis foundation will host a candlelight vigil Tuesday night at 8 p.m for the late Anthony Johnson and his extended family. The vigil will be hosted at the spot of the shooting located on the 200th block of T street in Central Bakersfield .
