BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- What's the best way to beat the summertime heat and keep your wallet on ice?Our latest Staycation installment finds us cooling off in a big way in central Bakersfield.ABC23s Karl Mandik strapped on the skates and took to the rink at the Bakersfield Ice-Sports Center.
When the temperature rises to triple digits outside, the Ice Sports Center will drop their open skate price to only $5. A group known as “Greased Up” uses the morning ice time to practice as they are taking their rendition of the musical “Grease” to a national competition in San Jose.Skating coaches say the ice paired with a can-do attitude is the perfect way to kick those steamy summertime blues.
