A man is under arrst after he ran a red light and plowed into another car while reportedly driving under the influence, the Bakersfield Police Department told ABC23.

On Wednesday around 9:34 a.m., Bakersfield police responded to an injury accident at 19th and Oak Streets.

An investigation revealed William Jarone Green, 32, of Bakersfield, was driving westbound on 19th Street when he failed to stop for the red traffic signal at Oak Street and collided with a Cadillac CTS driven by Nelson Cumbry Jr., 56, the BPD told ABC23.

The BPD said that Cumbry's vehicle burst into flames and struck a commercial van driven by Thomas Myers, 51, who was also traveling south on Oak Street.

Cumbry's vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a PG&E power box controlling the traffic signal, the BPD reported.

Cumbry was transported to KMC.

Myers complained of pain.

Police said that Green was under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested on charges of felony DUI.

Green was also arrested last month after he drove a car onto the South High Football field and stuck a woman during a Pee-Wee football game, police said.
