Police Force Out Strong At Fair Grounds

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- On Wednesday, detectives and officers from the Bakersfield Police Department Investigations and Patrol divisions joined forces with the CHP Kern County Auto Theft Task Force, the Department of Motor Vehicles Investigations Division, the Kern County Sheriff’s Department and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office for a multi agency directed policing enforcement effort in the area surrounding the Kern County Fair.The goal of this effort is to impact crime, specifically auto theft and vehicle burglaries.As a result of this joint effort, thus far, over 80 contacts have been made resulting in the following arrests: 1 arrest for residential burglary
1 arrest for grand theft auto
1 arrest for carrying an illegal weapon
1 arrest for hit and run
1 warrant arrest
1 citation
Officers and investigators also assisted in dispersing a large peace disturbance at Wayside Park.Thanks to the joint efforts of all agencies involved, this effort was a success.In an effort to prevent auto thefts and auto burglaries we encourage fair attendees to park their vehicles in attended lots and not to leave any items of value in their cars.
