Police: Man Wanted For Shooting Woman In Head

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Bakersfield Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in locating a man wanted on charges of attempted murder which occurred on Sept. 26, at the Elks Lodge located at 1414 East California Avenue.Police said that Bruce Anthony Hollis, 44, confronted a 22-year-old woman and shot her in the head at close range.The bullet grazed the top of the woman's head, the BPD reported.
The man then fled the establishment with the firearm, the BPD reported.The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released for lacerations to her head and right temple.The woman’s identity is being withheld while the investigation is continuing.Hollis is described as Black and is 6 feet 5 inches tall. He is said to weigh around 250 pounds.Hollis has a prior conviction in 1988 for voluntary manslaughter as well as numerous assault and firearms arrests.He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.Anyone with information regarding Hollis’ whereabouts is encouraged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111 or Detective Dennis Murphy at 661-326-3861.
