Man Told Police He Was Hiding From People That Were Chasing Him

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Most people try to stay out of court, but one man was found hiding in the superior court building early Wednesday morning.A man was found inside a courthouse bathroom bleeding after he told police he was hiding from people that were chasing him.Around 5 a.m. Wednesday, the Bakersfield Police Department received a call from a county maintenance crew regarding a man hiding in the women's bathroom of the court building on the 1200 block of Truxtun Avenue.
When the BPD arrived, they said they noticed a 1994 GMC Sonoma that had been abandoned in the 1500 block of L Street, which is just south of the courtbuilding.Officers said they were able to locate John Daniel Stillwell, 38, who said he had kicked in the glass door to get inside the courtbuilding to hide from people who were chasing him.Stillwell was arrested without incident.Stillwell was arrested on charges of trespassing and felony vandalism.
