Job Seekers With Disabilities Show Up To Job Fair

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Job seekers with disabilities had the opportunity to connect with potential employers Thursday morning.The job fair was intended for people who are ready to go to work, but don't always have the resources available.The event is part of the "meet your special neighbors" project during the month of October.
Organizers told ABC23 that their mission is to understand, include, accept and value the contributions of their neighbors with any type of disability whether it's developmental, physical or both.Vons, Big Lots, Mercy Hospital, Rain for Rent, Spherion, Creative Financial Staffing and several others were on hand giving job opportunities to those in need.Organizers said one in every five residents of Kern County has some type of disability.The event will run until 12 p.m. on Thursday.If you missed out on today's job fair, but would like more information you can visit www.meetyourspecialneighbor.org.
