Police are searching for a man who they say kidnapped his girlfriend.

After being released from jail on Tuesday, for a prior attempted kidnapping on his girlfriend, Robert Maurice Holmes, 29, went to the home of his girlfriend, Annetta Coleman, 30, where an argument ensued and he vandalized her apartment, police said.

Coleman's 15-year-old son arrived home and contacted Coleman and Holmes inside Holmes’vehicle, a red 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier - CA License #6KSR499, in the apartment complex parking lot.

Coleman told her son she and Holmes were going to the store; however, they never returned, police said.

Coleman was last seen on Tuesday around 10 p.m.

Calls to her cell phone initially went unanswered and Holmes later answered the phone and said he did not know Coleman's whereabouts and hung up on officers, police said.

Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Coleman returned home and called the police department and said that she was the victim of a kidnapping and that Holmes was the one who took her.

Holmes is described as black. He is said to be 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. He is said to have brown eyes and black hair.

Holmes is known to carry firearms and has a history of domestic violence, police said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Holmes is urged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
