Man Flips SUV, Hits Bicyclist
Bicyclist Sustained Serious Injuries

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A man has been arrested after police said he hit an SUV and then hit a bicyclist while driving under the influence.Around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the intersection of Brundage Lane and Oak Street concerning a traffic collision.Investigation revealed that Crisoforo Trujillo-Serratos, 43, was driving a brown Chevy S10 Blazer eastbound on Stockdale Highway and failed to stop for the red light at the intersection of Oak Street, Sgt. Mary DeGeare said.
DeGeare said Trujillo-Serratos was broadsided by Jacquelyn Higgins, 47, who was driving a white GMC/Yukon traveling northbound on Oak Street on a green light.The collision caused the S10 Blazer to spin out of control and strike a bicyclist crossing Brundage Lane, DeGeare reported.The bicyclist, Garrett Hughes, 37, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center.Higgins was uninjured as a result of the collision.Trujillo-Serratos was arrested on charges of felony drunk driving causing injury, driving on a suspended and revoked License and the red light violation.Anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
