Woman Has Seizure, Slams Car Into Bus At Flu Clinic

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Seven people were injured Friday after a woman had a seizure and drove her car into a parked GET bus at a local flu vaccine clinic.The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m., when a woman in line at the drive through flu clinic at Bakersfield College had a seizure behind the wheel of her black Volkswagen, Amber Chiang PR for BC told ABC23.The woman was next in line to receive the vaccine and when she was ordered to pull her vehicle forward, officials said this is when her head went back, her foot slipped onto the gas pedal and her car accelerated out of the line and headed towards a recently parked GET bus, Chiang told ABC23.
The woman's car slammed into 2 cars and then slammed into the bus, Chiang told ABC23.One of the passengers told ABC23 that the bus driver had just recently helped a woman and her baby make their way onto the bus just moments before the out of control vehicle slammed into the bus.The driver and six other people were taken to nearby hospitals where they were treated for their injuries.Chiang told ABC23 that the nurses and staff had weeks of preparation for this event and that everyone on site was highly qualified.Chiang told ABC23 that the woman had not received her flu vaccine prior to the wreck.
