The California Highway Patrol said a 35-year-old man was hit and killed while he was walking down Panama Lane.

Around 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, officers said a man was walking in the roadway eastbound on East Panama Lane just east of Weedpatch Highway along the south road edge.

Fifty-two-year-old Daniel Robles was traveling eastbound on East Panama Lane east of Weedpatch Highway at approximately 45 to 50 mph, the CHP reported.

Robles did not see the man and struck him with the right front of his vehicle, police said.

The man was thrown onto the south shoulder and sustained fatal injuries.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
