23Editorial: Exit Exams -- Stop Whining & Start Learning

Airdate: Monday, Feb. 13

Last week, a group of parents filed a lawsuit in a Northern California court trying to stop the state's High School Exit Exam.

The test makes sure students know 8th grade math and 9th and 10th grade level English. If they don't, they don't graduate.

Instead, they receive a certificate of completion, which isn’t good for anything but asking the customer if they would like to super size their order!

A lot of parents are complaining about the exit exam. 23ABC says boo hoo!

Instead of whining now, you should have been doing something to make sure your kids were learning something in school.

We need to make sure our kids can compete in the real world when they graduate.

Unfortunately, it may be too late for the nearly 2,000 Kern High School Students who have not passed the test yet. But it sure is a wake up call for every other parent out there.

Become active in your children's education. Make sure they go to school. Push them hard to be the best they can. If you have a high school senior who has not passed the exit exam yet, what in the world are you doing watching us?

23ABC says turn off your TV right now and start helping your kid study. These seniors have two more chances to take the test again before the end of the school year.

You can Tivo Desperate Housewives; you can't Tivo your kids' future!
