Axl Rose Stalking Suspect Charged
Ohio Woman Violated Order to Stay Away From Rose's Home
It was the same charge that was lodged against Karen Jane McNeil, 39, in previous misdemeanor cases in Malibu in 1996 and 1997, according to prosecutors.
McNeil is on probation for the 1997 case and was supposed to stay at least 300 yards from the former Guns 'n Roses lead singer's home as a condition of her release, according to prosecutors.
McNeil was arrested Tuesday night after Rose called the sheriff's station to "report that a stalker was trying to enter his property," said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Boris Nikolof.
Rose's assistant, Betta Lebeis, said McNeil has stalked the singer for four years, and has been to his property six or seven times.
Lebeis said the woman claims to be Rose's wife, and believes, "basically, if he doesn't belong to her, he don't belong to anybody else."
"She said that she came because he was communicating with her telepathically, and that's why she came," Lebeis said.
Malibu Superior Court Judge Lawrence J. Mira ordered McNeil held in lieu of $200,000 bail. She is due back in court May 31 for a pretrial hearing.
