'Dark Knight' Among Producers Guild Noms

Guild Also Cites 'Button,' 'Frost/Nixon,' 'Milk,' 'Slumdog'

The Producers Guild of America has spreads its bat wings to include a superhero crime drama in its group of nominees for Best Picture of 2008.

"The Dark Knight" received a PGA nomination Monday, along with the fantasy drama "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," the Harvey Milk biopic "Milk," the indie drama "Slumdog Millionaire" and political drama "Frost/Nixon."

The nomination for "The Dark Knight" flies in the face of the Golden Globes, which snubbed director Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" sequel for a Best Motion Picture Drama nomination.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association, however, included the film in its nominations; and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association cited it as a runner-up as Best Picture of the Year behind the animated comedy "WALL·E."

"WALL·E" earned a PGA nomination for Best Animated Feature Monday, along with "Bolt" and "Kung Fu Panda."

Last year's PGA winner for Best Picture, "No Country for Old Men," went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
