"Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" star Tim Roth and "Children of a Lesser God" Oscar winner Marlee Matlin have revealed in separate interviews that they were each victims of child abuse.

Roth, who recently starred on the Fox series "Lie to Me" and was the villain in the 2008 superhero movie "The Incredible Hulk," told Britain's Daily Mail Saturday that he was abused from his childhood through his early teens.

"I'm not going to say who it was, he's long gone now -- and I hasten to add it wasn't my father or mother," Roth told the paper. "Things happen to you in your life, but you don't want to consider yourself to be a victim -- you want to be a survivor and the first thing that helps you do that and helps you get through it is speaking and finding your voice."

Roth, 47, said directing the 1999 film "The War Zone" helped him exorcise some demons.

"If you are a survivor of abuse and you get the opportunity to tell a story about that subject, then you can really get in there and tell the truth."

Matlin talked about her past child abuse in an interview with guest host Joy Behar on "Larry King Live" Monday night.

Through her interpreter, the deaf actress told Behar that she was abused at age 11 by a 16-year-old female babysitter, but kept it a secret.

"I masked it, and I covered it up. And I masked it with drugs. And I masked it at a very early age with drugs. … I never told anyone. I never told my parents. And yet, I never forgot it," Matlin said.

Matlin said she finally revealed the abuse to her husband.

On the show to talk about her new book, "I'll Scream Later," Matlin also revealed that she was molested again as a 14-year-old by a male teacher.

"It was a teacher who I looked up to and became friendly with. At the time ... I wanted good grades, you know, and I wanted his approval," Matlin told Behar.

Matlin said that she continued to see the man after she was lured into his apartment.

"I found out 10 years later, after graduating from high school, that other women in school had the same experience," Matlin said.

Matlin, 43, also talked about her volatile relationship with William Hurt, which is detailed in her book. Hurt and Matlin's relationship bloomed as co-stars of "Children of a Lesser God," which earned Matlin a Best Actress Oscar in 1987.

Matlin's credits include roles on the television dramas "The L Word," "The West Wing" and "Picket Fences," and has guest-starred on such shows as "Desperate Housewives," "My Name is Earl," "ER" and "Seinfeld."
