Best Power Ballad No. 5

'Angel' By Aerosmith

Aerosmith has seemingly had more lives than a cat lady's living room. Many reckoned they were finished in the late seventies -- a washed-out band of junkie has-beens who'd been handed stardom only to let it slip out of their hands.

That Aerosmith proved the doubters so wrong is due in no small part to "Angel," a very high-class power ballad that featured on "Permanent Vacation," their 1987 comeback album.

"Angel" perfectly showcases Steven Tyler's expressive vocals. "Don't know what I'm gonna do / about this feeling inside / yes, it's true / loneliness took me for a ride," he belts out, and the song's sentiments struck a chord with many.

The chorus has Tyler imploring that his angel "come and save me tonight" and there are parallels between the song's theme of love saving the lonely, and the need for music to save Aerosmith.
