Professor Wrestling: 'Final Resolution' Results

POSTED: 7:53 am EST January 17, 2005

Listen up! Class is in session again. Here are your winners from Sunday's TNA pay-per-view, "Final Resolution."

Dustin Rhodes Vs. Kid Kash
What Should Happen: The former Golddust should crush Kash. But I don't see that happening here. Kash plays his heel role well, and I would leave Dustin frustrated.

What Will Happen: Kash with the pin, after interference from his monster, Dallas.

What Did Happen: Rhodes hit Kash with the bulldog for the victory.

Raven vs. Erik Watts
What Should Happen: Raven has always bugged me for some reason. I don't know why. And Watts is a bit odd, isn't he? I would normally say that I wouldn't care about a match like this, but you have to admit Raven is doing a good job trying to sell his looney bit. Perhaps he should be rewarded with a win? Maybe a push to the top? He reminds me of Chris Benoit before his WWE title run. All the talent in the world, but never truly rewarded. Giving Raven the ball and have him run with it as a heel champion could be interesting.

What Will Happen: We'll probably see DDP interfere somehow because he started this mess. But I still think Raven will get the pin.

What Did Happen: Watts gets the pin after a chokeslam. But Raven ambushed Watts after the bell to get the last laugh.

Jeff Hardy vs. Scott Hall with Rowdy Roddy Piper as guest referee
What Should Happen: There's no excuse for these two not to tear it up, especially with Piper in the mix. Both are prime-time players, both can still work a match, and both can move a crowd. But is Hall sticking around or does he have a short-term deal? If not, I'd give the win to Hardy. If Hall is in TNA to stay for a bit, I'd have him win in typical, sleazy heel fashion.

What Will Happen: Hall wins by chicanery.

What Did Happen: Hall tried to win by chicanery, via the foreign object. But he was caught by Piper, who opened the door for Hardy to get the pin.

Team Canada vs. America's Most Wanted for the NWA Tag Team Titles
What Should Happen: Team Canada, with their fantastic moron leader Scott D'Amore, is a thing of beauty. AMW can bring it, but I'm really partial to heels holding gold … especially when a wrestling company is trying to lure new customers. It's just good business.

What Will Happen: Team Canada. Victory. Those dirtbags!

What Did Happen: The babyfaces won the gold. America's Most Wanted, James Storm and Chris Harris, got the pin after Team Canada cheating backfired.

A.J. Styles

Ultimate X Match: Petey Williams vs. A.J. Styles vs. Chris Sabin for the X-Division title
What Should Happen: Petey Williams is tremendous. The guy you love to hate. The smirk on his face alone is priceless. If I were running things, in no way, shape or form does he lose this match. Styles is great, and so are Sabin and Daniels, but Williams is the man here.

What Will Happen: At this point, I think the great Styles should be the star-builder and carry performers to great matches. He should do that here, with Williams grabbing the gold. Again, it's good for business.

What Did Happen: In a rousing spectacle of sports entertainment, Styles won the match to become the new X-Champ.

Kevin Nash vs. The Alpha Male vs. DDP, winner faces Jeff Jarrett for NWA heavyweight title
What Should Happen: If I were running things, the Alpha Male Monty Brown wins this match. But then A.M. has to turn around and give Jarrett a good scare in the title bout. Nash should be eliminated via an "accidental" guitar shot by Jarrett, who would be visiting ringside. Raven interferes here to trip up DDP.

What Will Happen: Brown wins. If the Kings of Wrestling are going to implode, it won't be on this PPV. Let it fester for a few months.

What Did Happen:Brown won, pinning DDP after Page tossed Nash over the top rope.

Jeff Jarrett vs. Monty Brown for the NWA heavyweight title
What Should Happen: The Alpha Male should give Jarrett the match of his life, with plenty of dramatic two counts. Hall and Nash should be at ringside for an element of danger, with the fans not knowing if they're going to punk out Jarrett or not. In the end, Nash tries to get revenge on Jarrett, but somehow costs Brown the match. Jarrett retains.

What Will Happen: Jarrett retains here. Kings Of Wrestling continue inevitable meltdown.

What Did Happen: After a back-and-forth match which saw plenty of guitar shots and the ref knocked out twice, Jarrett hit three Strokes to pin Brown, retaining his title.

And that was the show. This was the first time I've tracked a TNA pay-per-view in this space. While I stunk it up predicting what would happen in the undercard, I nailed the main event. In other words, your Professor is still in charge.

That's it! Class dismissed!
