Actress GWYNETH PALTROW has discovered a new laser beauty treatment to preserve her youthful looks.
The Shakespeare in Love star, who turned 40 in September (12), has adopted a more thorough skincare routine in recent years to help fight the signs of ageing, and her Los Angeles dermatologist has turned her on to an innovative new procedure, which uses focused radio‐frequency energy to strengthen collagen in the skin - to help prevent wrinkles without going under the knife.
Paltrow admits it's not the most comfortable of treatments, but she insists the results are worth the pain.
She tells Harper's Bazaar magazine, "I really used to be bad with products, but now I exfoliate every night and use a lot of organic oils on my face.
"And I have a great dermatologist in L.A. who gave me this amazing laser the last time I was there. It's called Thermage. It's not invasive. I went out to dinner right afterward and I didn't look crazy, but it's quite painful. It feels like someone's smacking your face with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it. But I would do it again, because I feel like it took five years off my face."
In the same interview, Paltrow also reveals she is not a fan of face-freezing Botox injections after one unfortunate experience, explaining: "I won't do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!"
