British singer ED SHEERAN blew his chance to cuddle up to KATY PERRY when he bumped into her backstage at a gig, because he was covered in sweat.

The flame-haired pop star met the Fireworks beauty after stepping off the stage following a show in Canada, but the singer refused to give him a celebratory hug as he was all hot and bothered.

Sheeran tells British newspaper The Sun, "I sweat a lot on stage and did a show in Canada. I played the set. stormed it, sweated a lot, got off stage and bumped into Katy Perry. I was like, 'All right Katy Perry, how are you?'

"She said, 'I came to your show and I love your album. I was gonna give you a hug but, eeurgh!' and went. That was my chance ruined because I sweated so much."
