Good Morning America's Robin Roberts to be awarded for courage at ESPY awards

Robin Roberts will be awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards this summer.

According to ESPN, the Ashe Award is one of the most prestigious in sports. Recipients reflect the spirit of Arthur Ashe, possessing strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of peril and the willingness to stand up for their beliefs no matter what the cost.

Other recipients of the award include Steve Palermo, Howard Cosell, Muhammad Ali, and Pat Summit.

The Good Morning America anchor was one of the first female sports anchors on ESPN.

Recently, Roberts overcame two life-threatening illnesses, as America watched.

Good Morning America airs on 23ABC at 7 a.m.
