BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- By now, we all should know about the three "C's" to help prevent the H1N1 virus – Cover, Clean and Confine. On Tuesday, a resolution at the Kern County Board of Supervisors now means doctors have the ability to enforce one of those "C's."The Department of Public Health declared a pandemic due to the H1N1 virus -- the resolution enables doctors to use emergency response plans, originally drawn up several years ago in response to the bird flu.
Doctors now have more authority to treat patients and protect those in the workforce by enforcing confine and requiring people with possible cases to stay home sick for up to a week.Officials said they're trying to cut down on the number of people in the workplace that might be harming the public or co-workers due to exposure.Vaccines should be here in Kern County by mid October.More Information On H1N1 Swine Flu Versus Regular Cold Flu Symptoms
