Sick sea lion pup rescued from Children's Pool in La Jolla

Lifeguards say pup took shelter under trailor

LA JOLLA, Calif. - A Sea World animal rescue team was called in Monday to help a sick sea lion pup at the Children’s Pool in La Jolla.

Lifeguards told 10News that they called Sea World in after the 30 pound pup made its way underneath one of their trailers at the Children’s Pool.

According to lifeguards, the 6-month-old sea lion appeared to be malnourished -- apparently it had recently been weaned by its mother.

There was no word on the condition of the 6-month-old sea lion once it was rescued.
