SAN DIEGO -
The San Diego Chargers have scheduled a news conference Wednesday to introduce Tom Telesco as the team’s new general manager.
Telesco is the former vice president of football operations for the Indianapolis Colts.
Telesco replaces A.J. Smith, who was fired along with head coach Norv Turner on Dec. 31.
According to NFL.com, Telesco was considered one of the favorites for the position after having a second interview with the team on Tuesday, a source familiar with Telesco's schedule told NFL.com's Albert Breer.
Jimmy Raye, the director of player personnel for the Chargers, also was considered a favorite for the job.
The Chargers ended in the 2012 season with a record of 7-9, and missed the playoffs for the third straight season.
10News will livestream the news conference at 1 p.m. PST.
