Big-rig catches fire after tipping over near County Line Road, Highway 99

DELANO, Calif. - Road crews are cleaning up a mess after a tractor-trailer tipped and crashed along Northbound Highway 99 and County Line Road.

The crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, the driver of the tractor-trailer was trying to exit the freeway, and while navigating, lost control and his tractor-trailer overturned. The tractor-trailer caught fire.

The driver escaped without injuries, officials said.

The driver was hauling a load of cardboard boxes.

The slow lane and off-ramp are completely closed until the spill has been picked up.

The fuel spilled on the roadway aided to the fire, officials said.
