According to a new study, parents aren't doing enough to watch what their kids are eating.

U.S. Health Researchers said no more than 10 percent of a person's daily calories should come from fat, but kids are getting between 11 and 12 percent from fat.

They also found that 17 percent of kids are obese and another third are overweight.

But there has been some progress from recent years.

The Center for Disease Control found that American children are consuming fewer calories overall than they used to.
