Cubs Activate Ramirez, Johnson, Guzman From DL

POSTED: 7:30 pm PDT July 6, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Cubs activated third baseman Aramis Ramirez, outfielder Reed Johnson, and reliever Angel Guzman from the 15-day disabled list on Monday.

Ramirez was placed on the disabled list on May 9 with a dislocated left shoulder.

Ramirez went 3-for-6 with three walks and an RBI during a three-game rehab assignment with Single-A Peoria. He started at third base and went 0-for-4 during the Cubs' 4-2 win over Atlanta on Monday.

The third baseman is hitting .343 with 16 runs batted in and four home runs in 19 games this season with Chicago.

In 43 games for the Cubs this season, Johnson is batting .268 with 16 RBI and four homers. Johnson was sidelined with lower back spasms.

Guzman, who was out with strained right triceps, owns a 2-1 record with a 2.53 ERA in 28 relief appearances this year.

To make room on the roster, the club optioned outfielder Sam Fuld and right- handed pitcher Kevin Hart to Triple-A Iowa and placed pitcher David Patton on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain.

Fuld was batting .364 (4-for-11) with three runs scored in six games. Hart had a 0-0 mark with a 1.59 ERA in four relief appearances, while Patton held a 3-1 record with a 5.63 ERA in 17 appearances.
