Rangers' Hamilton Activated From DL

POSTED: 10:30 pm PDT July 6, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers reinstated outfielder Josh Hamilton from the 15-day disabled list and optioned first baseman Chris Davis to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Hamilton, who was placed on the DL on June 2 with a right abdominal strain, had surgery to repair a partial tear of the abdominal muscle on June 9 in Philadelphia.

The star outfielder played five games with Oklahoma City and one with Double-A Frisco during a six-game rehabilitation assignment, where he went a combined 4-for-27 at the plate.

In 36 games for Texas this season, Hamilton is batting .248 with six home runs and 24 runs batted in. Hamilton was also on the DL from April 27-May 11 with a strained intercostal muscle.

Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a single, double, and run scored during Texas' 9-4 defeat to the Angels on Monday.

Davis was hitting .202 with 15 homers and 33 RBI in 77 games for the Rangers this year.
