Phoenix, AZ -- (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres on Monday activated relief pitcher Luke Gregerson from the 15-day disabled list and placed infielder David Eckstein on the DL.

The 25-year-old Gregerson has been inactive since early June with a strained right shoulder. The rookie right-hander was 0-3 with a 3.15 earned run average in 30 appearances this season before the injury.

Eckstein, who is hampered by a strained right hamstring, is batting .267 with a home run and 33 RBI in 80 games.

The club also recalled pitcher Mike Ekstrom from Triple-A Portland and optioned pitcher Joe Thatcher to the club's top minor league affiliate.
