Flushing, NY -- (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Braves placed first baseman Casey Kotchman on the bereavement list Wednesday.Kotchman, who was acquired in a June 29 trade that sent Mark Teixeira to the AL West-leading Angels, learned after Tuesday's 7-3 loss to the Mets that his mother, Susan, had been hospitalized for an undisclosed reason. He returned home to St. Petersburg to be with her. According to MLB, a player must remain on the bereavement list for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven. Kotchman is batting .157 (11-for-70) with five RBI in 20 games for the Braves. He had a .287 average to go along with 12 home runs and 54 RBI in 100 games for the Angels.
