Astros' Moehler Has Knee Surgery

(Sports Network) - Houston Astros right-hander Brian Moehler underwent successful surgery Monday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The procedure, during which some loose bodies were removed, was performed by Dr. David Lintner at The Methodist Hospital in Houston.

The 37-year-old Moehler made 29 starts for the Astros in 2009, posting a 5.47 earned run average and 8-12 record. He is expected to be ready for the 2010 season.

Geoff Blum remained with the Houston Astros, as the infielder signed a one-year contract worth $1.5 million Friday. The deal includes a mutual option for 2011 worth $1.65 million.
