Chicago, IL -- (Sports Network) - Reed Johnson drove in the game-winning run with a single in the 11th inning as the Chicago Cubs squandered a five-run lead in the ninth, but came back to edge the San Francisco Giants, 8-7, in the second of a three-game series at Wrigley Field.Jim Edmonds hit a two-run homer, doubled and knocked in four, while Mark DeRosa had two hits, including a triple and two runs scored for the Cubs, who have won six of their last eight games. Ryan Theriot finished with three hits, two walks and a run scored in the win. Rich Harden who was acquired along with Chad Gaudin from Oakland on Tuesday, tossed 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball. The right-hander allowed five hits, while striking out 10 and walking three in earning a no decision. Sean Marshall (2-2) earned the win by pitching two scoreless innings and also added a single in the 11th. "Its something Im not used to," Harden said of the support from Cubs fans. "You get the crowd into every pitch and its really good to see just how passionate they are. Ive never really had anything like that pitching in Oakland." Bengie Molina went 3-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Ray Durham and Aaron Rowand each finished with two hits and an RBI apiece for San Francisco, which has dropped six in a row and nine of its last 12. Kevin Correia earned a no decision despite getting roughed up for seven runs on nine hits. He struck out four and issued four walks. Leading by five, the Cubs brought in Carlos Marmol for the ninth and he promptly gave up a double to Ivan Ochoa, then retired Eugenio Velez on a ground out, with Ochoa taking third. Jose Castillo reached on an infield single and RBI base hits by Durham and Molina made it 7-4, but the Giants weren't finished. Rowand then worked a walk and a run-scoring ground out got by John Bowker got the visitors to within a pair. Rich Aurilia was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and Eliezer Alfonzo's pinch-hit RBI single and throwing error by Theriot, plated another, tying the game at 7-7. Ochoa flied out to shallow right to end the inning. Tyler Walker got the ball for the Giants in the bottom of the ninth and put down the first two hitters, before surrendering a walk to Mike Fontenot. He then struck out Johnson to force the game into extra innings. After San Francisco failed in the top of the 10th, Brian Wilson (0-2) walked Theriot to lead off the inning and took second on Kosuke Fukudome's sacrifice bunt. Derrek Lee then flied out and Aramis Ramirez was walked intentionally. Geovany Soto, chasing the first pitch of the at-bat, grounded out to second to end the frame. Marshall singled and DeRosa walked to start the home half of the 11th. After Fontenot bounced into a force out, Johnson grounded a 2-0 fastball through the right side of the infield to plate DeRosa and give the Cubs the 8-7 victory. "Anytime you lose one like that, it makes it good you end up winning the ballgame," Johnson said. "We wanted to get Harden a win in that situation -- he pitched great in his Cubs debut." The Cubs got on the board in the second when DeRosa lined a one-out triple to center and came in to score when Fontenot followed with a base hit, giving Chicago the early edge. San Francisco mounted a threat against Harden in the third, putting runners on first and second with one down, but the right-hander struck out Durham and retired Molina on a fly ball to get out of trouble. Edmonds' two-run homer in the third on an 0-2 fastball, plated Soto, who walked, stretching the Cubs lead to 3-0. Chicago was bidding for more as DeRosa and Fontenot drew free passes, but Harden fanned to end the inning. Harden struck out the side in the top of the fourth and his new teammates continued to give him run support in the home half of the inning. Theriot led off with a single and after Fukudome popped out, Theriot advanced to second on a wild pitch and came into score on a single to center by Lee. Soto then reached on a base hit and Edmonds stepped up and belted a double to right to plate two more, upping the home team's margin to 6-0. Correia was replaced by Osiris Matos, but the rookie didn't fare any better, as he served up a run-scoring single to DeRosa. Harden ran into some trouble in the sixth, allowing the first two runners to reach, before striking out Bowker. He was then pulled in favor of Gaudin, who retired the next two batters to get out of the jam. Trailing 7-0, the Giants broke the shutout in the top of the eighth. Durham got things started with a single and came around to score when Molina followed with a double, making it a 7-1 game. A Rowand single cut the deficit to five. Game Notes The Cubs have won four of their six meetings with the Giants this season and are 9-4 in the series since the start of last season...San Francisco has also dropped five of its last six at Wrigley...The Cubs will send right-hander Ryan Dempster (10-3) to the mound for the series finale on Sunday, while San Francisco will counter with righty Tim Lincecum.
