(Sports Network) - Jeff Mathis drove home two runs and the Angels downed the Cleveland Indians, 3-2, despite the health concern for starting hurler Jered Weaver.

The Angels' right-hander gave up two runs on three hits over three frames and a laboring 77 pitches. Weaver left the game with tightness in his back and is listed as day-to-day.

Mathis also scored twice, making a winner of veteran southpaw Darren Oliver (4-1), who pitched 2 2/3 scoreless frames. Francisco Rodriguez was solid once again in notching his 41st save. The Angels have won six of seven overall.

Grady Sizemore led off the game with a home run and reached second base as the tying run in the ninth before Rodriguez struck out Ryan Garko.

Franklin Gutierrez tripled home Kelly Shoppach for the game's second run in the second inning. The Angels put a two-spot on the scoreboard in the home half of the frame to square the contest.

Howie Kendrick and Juan Rivera each singled then Mathis' groundout plated Kendrick. Mathis stole second and came around to score on Reggie Willits' base hit.

Mathis then homered to begin the bottom of the fifth for a 3-2 lead.
