Angels Put Guerrero And Hunter On DL

POSTED: 2:38 pm PDT July 10, 2009

(Sports Network) - The LA Angels of Anaheim lost two-thirds of their outfield to the disabled list Friday, as Vladimir Guerrero and Torii Hunter were both shelved.

Guerrero suffered a strained muscle behind his left knee and a lower hamstring strain during a July 7 game against Texas on a defensive play in right field. He was playing the outfield for just the second time this season, spending most of the year as the designated hitter after previously missing 38 games while on the DL for a torn right pectoral muscle.

Hunter, meanwhile, is sidelined with an adductor strain on his right side. He also last played on July 7 and will miss next Tuesday's All-Star Game.

In 46 games this season, Guerrero is batting .290 with four homers and 21 runs batted in. Hunter was leading the team with 17 homers and 65 RBI, while also batting .305 in 77 games.

The Angels recalled infielder Brandon Wood and catcher Bobby Wilson from Triple-A Salt Lake to fill the roster spots.

Wood was batting .313 with 17 homers and 52 runs batted in at Salt Lake, while Wilson was hitting .261 with seven homers and 27 RBI.
