Detroit Tigers (51-49) At Kansas City Royals (45-56), 2:10 P.m.

(Sports Network) - Armando Galarraga tries for his first win in six starts this afternoon when the Detroit Tigers try and complete a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Galarraga was a pleasant surprise for the Tigers in the first half, but the 26-year-old right-hander has fallen on hard times as of late, losing his last two starts. Galarraga was charged with the loss in Baltimore on Friday, as the O's roughed him up for five runs (four earned) and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.

He is still 7-4 on the year with a 3.41 earned run average, but has not won since bearing the San Francisco Giants back on June 18.

Galarraga has never faced the Royals.

Kansas City will counter with righty Zack Greinke, who is 7-6 with a 3.90 ERA. Greinke was hammered in taking the loss to Chicago on Friday, as he allowed seven runs and 11 hits in just three innings.

Greinke is 7-3 lifetime against the Tigers with a 3.14 ERA in 15 games, 12 of which have been starts.

In the second game of this set on Tuesday, Placido Polanco hit a solo home run and ended with two runs driven in, while Kenny Rogers was solid in six innings, leading Detroit to a 7-1 win. Magglio Ordonez had three hits and two RBI, while Matt Joyce, Miguel Cabrera and Gary Sheffield chipped in an RBI apiece for the Tigers, who have won three in a row and five of seven.

Rogers (8-6) was touched for just one run on four hits, walked one and struck out four to pick up the win.

Kyle Davies (3-2) took the loss as he gave up two runs on five hits in four innings of work.

Mark Grudzielanek went 3-for-4 and had the only RBI and Esteban German had two hits for the Royals, who have lost four of their last six games.

Kansas City, which has been swept at home by Detroit in each of the last three seasons, has won six of its eight meetings with the Tigers after losing 11 of the 18 matchups in the series a year ago.
