High-tech card 'Coin' could replace gift, credit, debit cards

How stuffed is your wallet right now?

It's one thing that can get disorganized pretty quickly, especially with all of your gift, debit and credit cards jammed in there.

But now one high-tech card is hoping to replace all of your clutter.

It's called Coin -- and the concept is simple: you program all of your cards onto one.

Coin works like any of your other credit cards, you just swipe it to make a payment.

The difference is that you can load your debit, credit, and even gift cards on the Coin using a smartphone card reader and an app.

Once your data is loaded, there is a button on the front of the card that lets you toggle through your different forms of payment.

But what about security? Well, the creators of coin say if you lose the coin or it's stolen, you'll actually get an alert on your smartphone that it's not nearby.

You can even set it to deactivate if it's away from your phone for a set period for time.

Coin's official website says the battery life will last up to two years. After that, it will need to be replaced.

The company plans to start selling Coins next summer. They are started to take pre-orders now at a discounted price.

Whether Coins will catch on as the newer, easier way to pay-we'll just have to see.
