BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- On Tuesday during a multi-agency operation, Deputies assigned to the Kern County Sheriff's Office Major Violators Unit assisted U.S Forrest Service in serving a search warrant on U.S. Forest Service land located approximately 4 miles west of Wofford Heights.Deputies and Agents located a large Marijuana grow and campsite on the property.Deputies seized 2950 Marijuana plants. Many of the plants were ready for harvesting and were between four and eight feet tall, full of mature bud.
It appeared suspect(s) had successfully harvested between 200 to 500 plants. The suspects had made a small makeshift dam and ran waterline from it approximately 1/8th mile to the grow. The suspect(s) apparently fled the site, just prior to the Deputies arriving on scene. The approximate value of the seized Marijuana is estimated at $11,800,000.Due to the remoteness of this location, the seized Marijuana was flown out of the grow, using a Kern County Sheriff's Office helicopter.Deputies were assisted by two U.S. Forest Service Officers and an Immigration Customs Enforcement Agent.
