MOJAVE, Calif. -- Around 9 p.m. on Friday, deputies from the Mojave sheriff's station responded to a report of a robbery that had occurred at Denny’s in Mojave.

Deputies said that Calvin Anderson, 23, was described as wearing a distinctive white hooded sweatshirt with "Dollar" signs on it and approached a female outside the restaurant.

A female, who was traveling from Anaheim, walked towards the entrance of the restaurant, deputies said.

As she entered Denny’s restaurant, deputies said Anderson stepped towards the woman and punched her in the face. He then stole her purse, according to deputies.

Deputies said the purse contained $280 and a Playstation type electronic device.

Her purse also contained a digital camera, deputies reported.

This is when deputies said Anderson got in to a waiting vehicle and fled. The vehicle drove west on Oak Creek out of sight. Deputies obtained a partial license plate number from a witness.

Deputies began a search of the area.

A deputy said they located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle parked at an apartment complex on H Street.

Further investigation resulted in one of the deputies finding the stolen purse near a dumpster inside the apartment complex, according to deputies. Deputies said it still contained some of the contents.

The vehicle was registered to an apartment at the complex. Deputies contacted the registered owner, Anderson.

Anderson was uncooperative and deputies continued their investigation.

Sufficient evidence was obtained resulting in a search warrant being granted and the residence where Anderson and his girlfriend, Shanee Clark, 22, lived was searched.

The deputies said inside the residence they found property identified by the victim as having been stolen from her and some additional evidence.

Anderson was arrested and transported to the Mojave jail on charges of robbery, receiving stolen property, battery and conspiracy.

Anderson was held in lieu of $72,500 bail.

The investigation is continuing in regards to Shanee Clark who may face similar charges including child endangerment.
