Tehachapi School Board Recall Moves Forward

UPDATED: 9:00 am PDT October 28, 2009

A recall effort targeting the Tehachapi school board is moving full steam ahead.

The county elections department has verified thousands of signatures needed to continue the recall efforts of three school board trustees.

The elections department verified more than 4,000 signatures for each position, and that means a special election will be called for voters to decide whether or not to recall those trustees.

Members of the Friends of Recall said the election will most likely take place early next year.

Some residents said they are disappointed that the three members of the board did not step down and resign because it will cost between $100,000 and 150,000 to complete the recall effort.

The recall was prompted by the demotion of popular middle school principal Eric Triguiero.
