West Fire 46 Percent Contained
Arson Unit Determined Fire Was Human Caused

TEHACHAPI, Calif. -- Thursday night, fire crews said the weather was optimal for ground resources to keep working within its perimeter.Friday's weather will allow fire crews on the ground and in the air to continue to strengthen control lines on the West Incident.Over 1, 000 firefighters are gaining ground against the fire after winds caused it to flare up Wednesday afternoon, but crews working overnight were able to gain ground against it.
Firefighters said about 30 to 40 structures have been destroyed, and Thursday morning more than 2,000 people were still kept from their homes because 150 homes are still threatened around the Old West Ranch Community where the fire started.

Road closure on Tehachapi Willow Spring Road have been lifted.

Fire officials said they are only estimating the fire to be 46 contained.Kern County along with CAL FIRE are working on a re-entry plan for evacuees.Kern County Arson Unit along with CAL FIRE Investigators has determined that the cause of the West Fire is of human cause.This is still an ongoing investigation and no person of interest has been named.
