North of the River Recreation and Park District offers over 200 classes/programs year for public participation. Programs are conducted for all ages including infants through senior citizens and are focused on everything from health and fitness to learning new languages and writing. NOR conducts a wide range of after school programs for Standard, Beardsley, Fruitvale, Rosedale and Norris School Districts. Two District gymnasiums/recreation centers and three school gymnasiums are programmed on a joint use basis with school districts. Child care programs are provided at two children's centers and through parent preschool co-ops. Grant funds provide for a large senior program including two nutrition/program centers, senior and handicapped transportation programs, home delivery of meals and homemaker services. T.A.S.K., or the Terrio Academy of Sports Kinetics provides programs to teach children ages 4 and up how to control their bodies and movement, leading to athletic skills and future lifelong recreation and competition.
