Starting to wonder a bit about dear old dad since he bought that flashy, red muscle car? After all, what is he thinking at his age?

He's thinking it's now or never. He's hit middle age, peak earning years, empty nest, career gone as high as it's gonna go. He looks down the years he has left and sees more of the same -- he wants to shake things up, get a buzz from life.

So what will it be? A cruise? Been there, done that. An affair? Well, his wife would never agree. Soooo... he takes a wad of cash and goes car shopping.

He considers all the cliche cars. The red convertibles, the virility symbols for the driveway. The sleek silver slivers of sports car. The stodgy Rolls Royces, the ostentatious deuce coupes, even the hoggy Hummers.

What he wants is style and power, more speed than a man will ever need, and better sound than they have at the Met. He wants a "don't give a damn, here I am" car that will leave them in the dust, gawking.

He makes a list that goes from Viper to 'Vette, Ferrari to Mustang, and of course BMW.
