Four Teens Sentenced In Videotaped Beating Case
BAKERSFIELD -- Four teenagers will face punishment for their roles in the beating of a fellow Centennial High School classmate, which they captured on videotape.
In a closed juvenile courtroom hearing on Thursday, Haylee Shull-Hyde was sentenced to the Pathways correctional program. Shayna Hughes and Maverick Richardson were both sentenced to 45 days in juvenile hall and must participate in a work program. Cody Richardson will attend Camp Owens, a behavioral rehabilitation program run by the Kern County Sheriff's Department.
Lexi Stafford's attorney was not present and will be sentenced at a later time.
All the teens made a plea deal with the Kern County District Attorney's office in September.
Investigators said they beat up 14-year-old girl at a private residence and shot the incident on tape. The teens were alleged to have placed the tape online, but detectives were not able to find it. They have the original tape in custody.
