Neighbors Warned About Violent Sex Offender
SOUTHWEST BAKERSFIELD -- The Bakersfield Police Department is warning a southwest neighborhood about a violent sexual offender living on their street.
50-year-old Steven Glen Edwards is a registered sex offender recently released from prison and now residing in the 11000 block of Crescent Creek Court in southwest Bakersfield.
The Bakersfield Police Department said they are notifying the public through flyers and the news media because Edwards is considered a high-risk sex offender. Neighbors along Crescent Creek Court received flyers today about Edwards.
Edwards was convicted of numerous sexual assaults on a girl under the age of 14 who was known to Edwards. He is being monitoried by GPS through the Department of Corrections.
23ABC talked to parents who said this isn't the kind of neighbor they want living in their area and are now going to watch over their children closely.
The BPD wants to remind the public that it is illegal to use this information to commit a crime against a sex offender.
