BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The countdown for the holidays is well underway, and the Kern County Sheriff's Department wants to make sure that you and your family have a safe and happy holiday with these holiday safety tips.

To ensure your home is secure during the holiday season make sure you keep your doors and windows loced and secured.

If you are leaving town for the holiday, leave on several lights and a radio.

Do not display presents near a window where they can be seen from outside your home, and never let anybody you do not know into your home.
