10th Menudo Cook-Off Filled With Surprises

Hundreds of people headed to Stramler Park on Sunday for an authentic flavor-filled Latino food festival and menudo cook off.

There were also jalapeno and ice cream eating contests and even a sheriff's sergeant cooking up some menudo.

Nearly 30 contestants from around the U.S. entered the 10th Annual Menudo Cook-Off for a chance to win $500. According to one event official, the cook-off is highly competitive. Contestants weren't just judged on their menudo but on how they decorated their booth.

Some contestants travel the U.S. to compete in menudo cook-offs.

The ABC23 and Azteca42 booths were there, as were dozens of vendors and several entertaining bands, including El Chicano, Prisoners of Love and Mariachi Tapatio.
